The Students Will:
- Write complete sentences for a specific purpose.
- Use the writing process to create short stories,
paragraphs, and poems.
- Begin sentences with capital letters and use
ending punctuation in final copies.
- Write to organize information and ideas.
- Use descriptive words and a variety of sentence
types when writing about people, places, things, and events.
- Write brief narratives describing personal
experiences.
- Use books and other media to gather information to
write about life situations.
- Use writing to demonstrate understanding of
various topics in science, social studies, and mathematics.
- Write to clarify what is known about different
places, customs, and traditions.
- Identify the differences between reports and
stories.
- Use pictures and text to tell a story.
- Generate personal and formal letters, thank you
notes, and invitations.
- Determine how words are used to create
sounds. (buzz of the bee.)
- Examine how authors organize thoughts and ideas.
- Review personal work with others to revise and
edit.
